Great Eastern Entertainment
It all started from a passion for manga and anime. Reading manga and watching anime growing up, Kent Hsu wanted to be involved in the anime industry. After graduating from college, he opened a bookstore in Los Angeles, where people could rent or buy volumes of manga. In 1995, he closed down the bookstore and founded Great Eastern Entertainment.
Back then, anime conventions were incredibly small, with only a group of attendees, not like the thousands of anime fans in Anime Expo and Comic Con today. However, the anime medium continued to grow, with hit series such as One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach becoming mainstream in the United States. Along with this growth, Great Eastern Entertainment's catalog also grew extensively, from cosplay such as the classic Naruto headband to plushies, t-shirts, lanyards, keychains, and more. Now, we are home to over 100 different anime and video game titles, and we can't wait to bring fan favorite characters to life!
